OK, we still have not received a confirmation with exact travel dates...but we know we are going sometime soon.
It is difficult to get much done without knowing exactly when and where. I have gotten some paperwork mostly done (letters to the boys school that "Grandma" will be in charge while we are gone...OK, somehow Grandma is always in charge!) so all I have to do is fill in dates when I know them.
We will try to go to the Chinese consulate on Friday - with BIG smiles - and get our visas. I'm not totally clear on the requirements so we'll see what happens. Wish us luck.
At this consulate, visas cost about $45 for Belgians, $50 for other EU citizens, and $120 for Americans...my aren't we popular! If I admitted I considered myself a Texan, they'd probably tack on another $50! So, everyone, ssshhhh!
