Grandma is here...I repeat...Grandma is here! Grandpa is too - but unfortunately he never gets as much credit!
After arriving yesterday, they fortunately slept most of last night and so felt OK today.
Grandpa has already lost one round of "Go Fish" and then Wii to a Grandson...could be a long three weeks for him!
We are SO very grateful that they could come to help us out. Thad was 2 1/2 when he last saw them so really did not remember them. However, he knows in prinicple that they are important. He is already adapting and let Grandpa help pick him up from school today.
Lisa's mass calling/emailing to Frankfurt (regarding the renewal of my fingerprint clearance) finally got one person to call us back...the DIRECTOR of that immigration center. So, while we were unhappy with the difficulty of her organization, it says something for her that she would pick up the phone and call us. Her early remark to Lisa was that this had been "taken care of" two weeks ago so what was the problem? Lisa then pointed out that I am not RALPH (please see my previous blog)...
Anyway, it all seems to be fixed now.
Just in time - we have 48 hours before we are on the airplane! Hard to believe...
Of course, while I have been stressing over this, on Monday it occurred to me how self-centered I have been from time to time. You see, on Monday the boys' school honored the birthday of Dr. Suess with activities and guest readers - and my sons kindly invited me to come read to their classes (at least I know I'm not a TOTAL embarrassment...yet!).
I borrowed Jeremiah's book which is "Did I ever tell you how lucky you are?" and read it to their classes. Dr. Suess was big on morals and this story's moral of course was that you can always find someone worse off than you so you should not complain.
Well, this makes me want to edit some of my old blogs because I've obviously missed that point along the way.
I'm very blessed - look at our family photo now and especially in about 3 weeks and you'll see why!
take care,
us
